ब्राह्मणों की दक्षिणा के लिए गौएँ लायी जा रही थी उस समय छोटा बालक होने पर नचिकेता उनके बारे में विचार करने लगा जो गौएँ झुक कर घास भी नही खा सकती जो दूध देने मे भी समर्थ नही है जिनकी इंद्रियाँ नष्ट हो चुकी है ऐसी गौओ को दान देने वाला तो नीच लोको को प्राप्त होते है

When cows were being brought for Dakshina to the Brahmins, Nachiketa, being a small child, started thinking about them. Those cows who cannot bend down to eat grass, who are not even capable of giving milk, whose senses have been destroyed, the one who donates to such cows, gets the lower world.
